I thought my right earbud was blown out or something as there was no sound coming from it. I tried your procedure out to remove the filters and clean them in alcohol and it worked like a charm! Once I removed the right earbud filter I plugged it in just to test, and sure enough, there was sound coming out of that earbud again :D I'm happy that my $100~ investment didn't have to go to waste. And to think, I was considering donating these or getting rid of them a while back when they stopped working!

THANKS!!! You made my day. I was convinced my E3Cs were dead. Just now took out the filters (both, so the volume is the same) and, following your advice, managed clean them with alcohol and get them back in without damage. Speaking of alcohol: Can I buy you a beer?

Thank you so much for this great fix! You made my day. I was convinced my E3Cs were dead.
